EDUCATION    

The Corporate Directors’ Diploma Course is comprehensive and focused, as well as practical and intensive. The faculty (authors and presenters) are well-known and respected. The materials are regularly reviewed and updated.

The Course is conducted in conjunction with Deacons Lawyers, Ernst & Young Chartered Accountants and CCH Limited. We have been the leading Australian Institution in directors’ education since 1983. Over 1,000 Australian directors have undertaken the Residential program and over 9,000 Australian directors have undertaken our courses.

The Course may be studied through Residential (8 days), Tutorial (at various locations around Australia) and by Distance Leaning anywhere in the world.

This director education is highly relevant for directors and aspiring directors of both small and large companies, from both the public and private sectors.

INFORMATION

CDA Board Report provides members with regular updates of condensed, easy to read, business style, useful in formation.

We report on changes to legislation and regulation, corporate governance, government policy and parliamentary reviews, affecting directors and officers. We also report on overseas trends in regulation and corporate governance and keep you informed in these areas.

Published monthly (except for January)

Our authors are specialists in their fields and understand the particular needs of business people. CDA Board Report contains several specialist sections on topics such as legislative changes, key decisions from the courts, corporate governance, matters affecting directors, and members’ news.

PUBLICATIONS

Practical, executive summaries on a series of topics of concern to directors. All written in plain English. Papers currently available:­

1)     Duties and Liabilities of Directors and Officers. The booklet deals with both the Corporations Act and the Common Law. It is a useful reference book and should be kept in the brief case of every director and officer.

2)     Directors and Officers Insurance.

3)     Guidelines for Prospective Directors -  a due diligence check list.

4)     List of NSW and Commonwealth Acts with Personal Liability for Directors and Officers.

LEGISLATION

CDA is involved in representation to government and regulatory bodies on issues which are important to directors and officers.  

A CDA Director was a foundation member of the Commonwealth Government’s Council on Business Regulation and a member of the Consultative Group for the Commonwealth’s Corporations Law Simplification Program. 

A CDA Director was a foundation member of the Commonwealth Attorney-General’s Companies & Securities Advisory Committee and of its Legal Committee. This was the group that advised the Commonwealth Attorney-General on the drafting of the Corporations Act.

A CDA Director was a foundation member of the NSW Attorney-General’s Corporate Crime Task Force.

A CDA Director was a foundation member of the Corporate Practices and Conduct Working Party (the Bosch Committee).

A CDA Director is a member of ASIC’s Regional Advisory Committee.
